Theodosios the New of Argos

Venerable Theodosios the New, healer and ascetic of the Peloponnese.

Saint Theodosios was born in Athens in the ninth century and became a monk, settling as a hermit near Argos in the Peloponnese. Many came to him for healing and counsel, and a monastery grew up around his cell.

He is called the Healer because of the cures worked through his prayers, and his relics are venerated in the Argolid.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Theodosios the New of Argos is commemorated on August 7. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 20 of the civil calendar.
