Papas the Martyr

Holy Martyr Papas of Lycaonia.

St. Papas was a Christian of Lycaonia in Asia Minor who confessed Christ during the pagan persecutions. Tradition relates that he was forced to walk in shoes fitted with nails and was bound to a tree, where he gave up his soul.

He is commemorated on September 14.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Papas the Martyr is commemorated on September 14. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on September 27 of the civil calendar.
