Paul of Latros

Venerable Paul the New, ascetic of Mount Latros.

Venerable Paul was born in Bithynia in the tenth century and became a monk on Mount Latros near Miletus, living in caves and on the summit of the mountain in great austerity. Many disciples gathered around him, and he was consulted by emperors. He reposed in peace in 955.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Paul of Latros is commemorated on December 15. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 28 of the civil calendar.
