Stephen of Sourozh

Stephen the Confessor, Archbishop of Sourozh in Crimea.

Stephen was Archbishop of Sourozh in Crimea in the eighth century. He confessed the veneration of the holy icons against the iconoclast emperors, suffered imprisonment and exile, and returned to his see, where he reposed in peace.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Stephen of Sourozh is commemorated on December 15. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on December 28 of the civil calendar.
