Venerable Pelagia of Tinos, to whom the Theotokos revealed the icon of the Evangelistria.
St. Pelagia was a nun of the Kechrovouni convent on the island of Tinos. In 1822 the Theotokos appeared to her in a vision and directed her to the place where the icon of the Annunciation lay buried; the icon was found in 1823 and the great church of the Evangelistria was built there.
She reposed in 1834 and was glorified in 1970. Her cell is venerated at Kechrovouni.
Feast day
On the New Calendar, Pelagia of Tinos is commemorated on July 23. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on August 5 of the civil calendar.
