Proclus and Hilary of Ancyra

Holy Martyrs Proclus and Hilary of Kallipi near Ancyra.

Saints Proclus and Hilary were natives of the village of Kallipi near Ancyra in Galatia who suffered during the persecution of the Emperor Trajan. Proclus, the elder, was arrested first and endured torture with such steadfastness that his nephew Hilary, moved by his example, openly confessed Christ as well.

Both were put to death for the faith, Proclus by arrows and Hilary by the sword, according to the synaxaria. They are commemorated together on July 12.

On the New Calendar, Proclus and Hilary of Ancyra is commemorated on July 12. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 25 of the civil calendar.
