• Paisios the Athonite

  Venerable, Παΐσιος ο Αγιορείτης

  St. Paisios was born in Farasa of Cappadocia in 1924 and grew up in Konitsa in Epirus. After military service he became a monk, living on Mount Athos, at Sinai and finally in the cell of Panagouda near Koutloumousiou, where he received countless pilgrims with discernment and love.

• Veronica the Woman with the Issue of Blood

  Holy Woman, Βερονίκη

  St. Veronica is identified by tradition with the woman of the Gospel who had suffered from an issue of blood for twelve years and was healed when she touched the hem of the Lord's garment in faith. Tradition relates that she came from Caesarea Philippi.

• Michael Maleinos

  Venerable, Μιχαήλ Μαλεΐνος

  St. Michael Maleinos was born to a noble family of Cappadocia in the tenth century and became a monk on Mount Kyminas in Bithynia. He was renowned for asceticism and was the spiritual father of St. Athanasios, founder of the Great Lavra on Mount Athos.

  Martyr, Σεραπίων ο Νέος

  St. Serapion the New was a Christian who confessed Christ during the persecutions of the third century. Tradition relates that he was tortured and finally burned for his faith.

• Andrew the Stratelates and those with him

  Martyr, Ανδρέας ο Στρατηλάτης

  St. Andrew the Stratelates was a Roman military commander who confessed Christ together with his soldiers, among them Herakleios, Faustus and Menas. Tradition relates that they were slain by the sword in a mountain pass.

• Proclus and Hilary of Ancyra

  Martyr, Πρόκλος και Ιλάριος

  Saints Proclus and Hilary were natives of the village of Kallipi near Ancyra in Galatia who suffered during the persecution of the Emperor Trajan. Proclus, the elder, was arrested first and endured torture with such steadfastness that his nephew Hilary, moved by his example, openly confessed Christ as well.
