Serapion the New

Holy Martyr Serapion the New, burned for Christ.

St. Serapion the New was a Christian who confessed Christ during the persecutions of the third century. Tradition relates that he was tortured and finally burned for his faith.

He is called 'the New' to distinguish him from earlier martyrs of the same name.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Serapion the New is commemorated on July 12. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 25 of the civil calendar.
