Venerable Procopios of the Dekapolis.
St. Prokopios of the Dekapolis was a monk of the eighth century who lived the ascetic life in fasting, vigil, and prayer. When the iconoclast heresy arose under the emperors who warred against the holy images, he stood forth as a confessor, defending the veneration of the icons of Christ and His saints, and suffering persecution for the truth.
Having endured to the end, he reposed in peace, honored by the Church among the confessors of Orthodoxy. He is commemorated on February 27.
Feast day
On the New Calendar, Prokopios Dekapolis is commemorated on February 27. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 12 (a day earlier in leap years) of the civil calendar.
