Seraphima of Sezenovo

Venerable Seraphima of Sezenovo, ascetic of Russia.

St. Seraphima, born Euphemia Morgacheva in the Ryazan region in the nineteenth century, devoted herself from youth to prayer and fasting. She became a disciple of the recluse John of Sezenovo and later guided the women's community that grew up there.

She reposed in peace in 1877, revered for her ascetic life and spiritual counsel.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Seraphima of Sezenovo is commemorated on February 13. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 26 of the civil calendar.
