Sophia the Physician

Venerable Sophia the Physician, who healed the sick and served the poor.

The synaxarion honors Venerable Sophia the Physician on May 22, recording that she practiced medicine among the poor without payment and lived a life of prayer and mercy. The details of her life are not otherwise preserved.

She is distinct from the Martyr Sophia of September 17.
