Holy New Martyr Stamatios of Volos, beheaded at Constantinople.
Saint Stamatios was a young man from the region of Volos who went to Constantinople to protest the oppression of his village by Ottoman officials. Arrested and urged to convert, he confessed Christ steadfastly and was beheaded in 1680.
He is the patron of all who bear his name.
