Theodoulos

Holy Martyr Theodoulos.

St. Theodoulos was a young reader of the church of Thessaloniki who suffered martyrdom during the persecution of Diocletian at the beginning of the fourth century. Tradition remembers him together with the elder deacon Agathopous; refusing to surrender the holy books or deny Christ, the two were condemned and cast into the sea.

The Church honors in him the courage of the young, who at the very start of life counted Christ dearer than all its promise. He is commemorated on April 5.

On the New Calendar, Theodoulos is commemorated on April 5. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 18 of the civil calendar.
