Tryphaena and Matrona are listed together in the Greek synaxaria as venerable women who reposed in peace. Little has been preserved of their lives beyond their names and the memory of their holiness.
They are distinct from the martyr Tryphaena of Cyzicus and from the venerable Matrona of Constantinople, who are commemorated on other days.
