  Michael the Confessor

  Hierarch, Μιχαήλ

  St. Michael the Confessor was Bishop of Synnada in Phrygia in the eighth and ninth centuries. A man of holy life, he served the Church in times of trouble and stood firm for the veneration of the holy icons when the iconoclast emperors sought to destroy them. For his confession he was driven from his see and endured exile and hardship until his repose.

• Mary of Clopas

  Holy Woman, Μαρία του Κλωπά

  Mary of Clopas stood with the Theotokos and Mary Magdalene at the Cross of Christ, as the Gospel of John records, and was among the women who came to the tomb with spices on the morning of the Resurrection. Tradition relates that she was the wife of Clopas, brother of Joseph the Betrothed.

• Eumenios of Crete

  Venerable, Ευμένιος ο Νέος (Σαριδάκης)

  Eumenios Saridakis was born in Crete in 1931 and became a monk as a youth. Contracting leprosy, he was sent to the hospital for infectious diseases in Athens, where, after his healing, he chose to remain for the rest of his life as priest and comforter of the sick.

  Joachim was born on Ithaca in 1786 and became a monk on Mount Athos. Returning to his island, he lived in great simplicity, comforting the poor and healing the sick, so that the people called him Papoulakis, the little father.

• Euphrosyne of Polotsk

  Holy Woman, Ευφροσύνη του Πολώκ

  Euphrosyne was a princess of Polotsk who refused marriage and became a nun in her youth. She founded a convent and a monastery in Polotsk, copied books, and encouraged learning among her people.

• Salonas the Roman

  Martyr, Σαλωνάς ο Ρωμαίος

  The synaxarion honors the martyr Salonas the Roman on May 23, recording that he died for Christ. Further details are not preserved.

• Manaen the Prophet
