  Holy Woman, Πελαγία

  St. Pelagia was a celebrated actress of Antioch, renowned for her beauty and wealth, who was brought to compunction by the preaching of a holy bishop. She was baptized, gave her riches to the poor, and departed secretly to Jerusalem, where she lived in a cell on the Mount of Olives in strict asceticism, unknown to all until her repose.

• Pelagia the Virgin of Antioch

  Pelagia was a fifteen-year-old Christian of Antioch during the persecution under Numerian. When soldiers came to seize her, she asked leave to change her garments and, praying, threw herself from the roof of the house to preserve her purity.

  Thais was a woman of Alexandria who lived a life of sin until the abba Paphnutios came to her disguised as a customer and spoke to her of the judgment of God. Struck with compunction, she burned her possessions in the public square.

• Tryphon of Vyatka

  Tryphon was born in the mid-sixteenth century in the Mezen region and became a monk in Perm, where he preached to the pagan Ostyaks and Voguls. He later founded the Dormition monastery at Vyatka and served as its archimandrite.
