Achillas of Alexandria

Saint Achillas, Archbishop of Alexandria, successor of the hieromartyr Peter.

Saint Achillas was a priest and head of the catechetical school of Alexandria who succeeded the hieromartyr Peter as archbishop of that city in the early fourth century. Though his episcopate was short, he was honoured for his learning and virtue and reposed in peace.

On the New Calendar, Achillas of Alexandria is commemorated on June 3. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 16 of the civil calendar.
