Lukillian

Holy Martyr Lucillianus.

The Holy Martyr Lukillian had been a pagan priest who came to faith in Christ in his old age. Baptized, he confessed the Lord openly and suffered in the third century near Byzantium, enduring torments together with young companions who would not deny Christ, and with them received the crown of martyrdom.

His conversion at the end of a long life given to idols shows that it is never too late to turn to the living God, and that grace can make even an aged newcomer a witness unto blood. He is commemorated on June 3.
