Auxibios of Soli

St. Auxibios, Bishop of Soli in Cyprus.

St. Auxibios was born to a wealthy pagan family of Rome and, refusing the marriage arranged for him, sailed to Cyprus, where he was baptised by the Apostle Mark and later consecrated Bishop of Soli by St. Herakleidios.

He converted many pagans and reposed in peace in the first century; his shrine in Cyprus remains a place of veneration.

On the New Calendar, Auxibios of Soli is commemorated on February 17. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on March 2 (a day earlier in leap years) of the civil calendar.
