  Theodore of Tyre

  Martyr, Θεόδωρος Τήρων

  St. Theodore the Recruit, called Teron, was a young soldier in Asia Minor during the persecutions at the beginning of the fourth century. Refusing to sacrifice to idols, he boldly confessed Christ, and after imprisonment and torture he was given over to death by fire, sealing his faith as a Great Martyr.

• Marcian and Pulcheria

  Saint, Μαρκιανός και Πουλχερία

  St. Pulcheria, daughter of the Emperor Arcadius, was proclaimed Augusta in her youth and guided the empire during the reign of her brother Theodosius II, living in virginity and piety. After his death she married the general Marcian, who ruled with her in chastity.

• Mariamne the Equal-to-the-Apostles

  Apostle, Μαριάμνη

  St. Mariamne was the sister of the Apostle Philip and shared in his preaching together with the Apostle Bartholomew, travelling through Asia Minor and enduring persecution at Hierapolis. After her brother's martyrdom she continued to preach in Lycaonia.

• Auxibios of Soli

  Hierarch, Αυξίβιος

  St. Auxibios was born to a wealthy pagan family of Rome and, refusing the marriage arranged for him, sailed to Cyprus, where he was baptised by the Apostle Mark and later consecrated Bishop of Soli by St. Herakleidios.

• Theodore the Byzantine

  Martyr, Θεόδωρος ο Βυζάντιος

  St. Theodore was born in Neochori near Constantinople and as a young man worked in the Sultan's palace, where he was drawn into professing Islam. Repenting bitterly, he confessed Christ openly in Mytilene before the Turkish judge.

• Hermogenes of Moscow

  Hierarch, Ερμογένης Μόσχας

  St. Hermogenes served as a priest in Kazan, where he witnessed the finding of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, and later became Metropolitan of Kazan and Patriarch of Moscow. During the Time of Troubles he called the Russian people to resist the Polish occupation and refused to sanction a Catholic ruler.

• Agathangelos of Florina

  Martyr, Αγαθάγγελος ο εκ Φλωρίνης

  St. Agathangelos was a young shoemaker from Florina in Macedonia who worked in Bitola. Grieved by the forced conversions of Christians during the Muslim festivals, he obtained an imperial decree from Constantinople to stop them.
