Chrysanthos of Xenophontos

Holy New Martyr Chrysanthos, monk of the Xenophontos Monastery on Mount Athos.

Chrysanthos was a monk of the Monastery of Xenophontos on Mount Athos. Tradition relates that he went to Constantinople and there openly confessed Christ before the Ottoman authorities.

He was put to death for his confession in the years of Ottoman rule and is honoured among the Athonite new martyrs.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Chrysanthos of Xenophontos is commemorated on April 10. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 23 of the civil calendar.
