Holy Martyr Terence of Carthage.
St. Terence was a martyr of North Africa who suffered in the third century, during the persecution of the emperor Decius. Together with a company of fellow Christians, he confessed Christ before the proconsul, endured imprisonment and torments without wavering, and was beheaded with his companions.
The Church remembers this band of African martyrs as an image of brotherly steadfastness, many suffering as one body for the one Lord. St. Terence and his companions are commemorated on April 10.
Feast day
On the New Calendar, Terence is commemorated on April 10. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 23 of the civil calendar.
