St. Chrysostomos (Kavouridis), Metropolitan of Florina, confessor and father of the Old Calendar movement in Greece.
St. Chrysostomos Kavouridis was born in 1870 at Madytos in Eastern Thrace and studied theology at the Theological School of Halki, graduating in 1901. He served the Church as a preacher and hierarch and was elected Metropolitan of Florina.
When the state Church of Greece adopted the New Calendar in 1924, he at first remained in office, but in 1935 he returned to the Julian calendar together with two other metropolitans and became the leading hierarch of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece, enduring deposition and exile for his stand. He reposed in Athens on September 7, 1955, and was glorified by the Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece in 2016. He is commemorated on September 7.
