Gabriel of Bialystok

Holy Child-Martyr Gabriel of Bialystok.

Gabriel was a child of a peasant family near Bialystok who, tradition relates, was abducted and killed at the age of six in 1690. His body was found some time later and his relics remained incorrupt.

He is venerated in Poland and Belarus as a protector of children.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Gabriel of Bialystok is commemorated on April 20. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on May 3 of the civil calendar.
