Venerable Joasaph of Meteora, a prince who left his throne for the monastic life.
Joasaph was born John Uros, son of the Serbian ruler of Thessaly, and inherited his father's throne while young. Renouncing worldly power, he went up to Meteora and became a disciple of Saint Athanasios, who named him his successor.
He enlarged the Great Meteoron and guided its brotherhood, reposing in peace in the early fifteenth century.
