Holy New Martyr Gennadios of the Monastery of Dionysiou on Mount Athos.
Gennadios was a monk of the Dionysiou Monastery on Mount Athos. Tradition relates that as a youth he had been pressed to accept Islam and, repenting, went to Constantinople to confess Christ openly.
He was beheaded there in the early nineteenth century and is honoured among the Athonite new martyrs.

On the New Calendar, Gennadios of Dionysiou is commemorated on April 6. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 19 of the civil calendar.
