Right-believing Great Prince George of Vladimir, who fell defending his people from the Tatars.
St. George, son of Great Prince Vsevolod, ruled Vladimir in the thirteenth century and was known for his piety, his building of churches and his care for the poor. He founded the city of Nizhny Novgorod.
When the Tatar hordes invaded Russia he led his army against them and was killed in battle in 1238; his relics were later found incorrupt.

On the New Calendar, George of Vladimir is commemorated on February 4. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 17 of the civil calendar.
