New Martyr George Paizanos of Lesvos, tailor, who suffered in Constantinople.
St. George, called Paizanos, was born on the island of Lesvos and worked as a tailor. Tradition relates that he was denounced to the Turkish authorities in Constantinople and pressed to change his faith.
He confessed Christ steadfastly and was put to death in Constantinople in 1693.

On the New Calendar, George Paizanos of Mytilene is commemorated on February 14. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 27 of the civil calendar.
