Hieromartyr Valentine, presbyter of Rome, and Valentine, Bishop of Terni.
Two martyrs named Valentine are commemorated on this day: a presbyter of Rome and the Bishop of Terni in Italy, both of whom suffered in the third century. Tradition relates that they healed the sick and brought many to Christ, for which they were arrested and beheaded.
The Church of the East and West honoured them together long before the schism; their relics were venerated in Rome.
