Venerable Maron, hermit of Syria, teacher of many ascetics.
St. Maron lived in the open air on a mountain near Cyrrhus in Syria, where he turned a former pagan temple into a place of prayer. Theodoret records that he received the gift of healing and delivered many from illness and demons.
He trained a great number of ascetics, among them St. James of Cyrrhus, and reposed in peace in the early fifth century.

On the New Calendar, Maron the Hermit is commemorated on February 14. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on February 27 of the civil calendar.
