Orentius and his Six Brothers, Martyrs

Holy Martyrs Orentius, Pharnacius, Eros, Firmus, Firminus, Cyriacus and Longinus, seven brothers and soldiers who suffered under Maximian.

These seven brothers were soldiers in the imperial army in Thrace. When Orentius refused to sacrifice after a victory in single combat, all seven were stripped of their rank and sent in chains along the Black Sea coast toward the Caucasus, where each died in a different place of exile or by violence, in the early fourth century.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Orentius and his Six Brothers, Martyrs is commemorated on June 25. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 8 of the civil calendar.
