Pausikakos of Synnada

Saint Pausikakos, Bishop of Synnada, physician and wonderworker.

Pausikakos was born in Apamea in Syria and practiced medicine, healing the sick freely and treating souls as well as bodies. Chosen Bishop of Synnada in Phrygia in the sixth century, he was loved for his charity.

Tradition relates that he healed the Emperor Maurice and that he reposed in peace around the year 606.

On the New Calendar, Pausikakos of Synnada is commemorated on May 13. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on May 26 of the civil calendar.
