Venerable Sergios the Confessor, who suffered exile for the holy icons.
Sergios was a nobleman of Constantinople, related to Patriarch Photios, who lived during the second period of Iconoclasm in the ninth century. For his defense of the icons he was stripped of his property and exiled with his family.
He endured his sufferings with patience and reposed in peace after the restoration of the icons.

On the New Calendar, Sergios the Confessor is commemorated on May 13. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on May 26 of the civil calendar.
