Stephen of Vladimir

Saint Stephen, abbot of the Kiev Caves and Bishop of Vladimir in Volhynia.

Stephen was a disciple of Saint Theodosius of the Kiev Caves and succeeded him as abbot of the monastery in the eleventh century, completing the great church he had begun. Later he founded a monastery of his own near Kiev.

He was made Bishop of Vladimir in Volhynia and reposed in 1094.

On the New Calendar, Stephen of Vladimir is commemorated on April 27. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on May 10 of the civil calendar.
