Venerable Stylianos of Paphlagonia, hermit and protector of children.
Saint Stylianos was born in Paphlagonia in Asia Minor and, after giving his inheritance to the poor, lived as a hermit in a cave, devoting himself to prayer and asceticism. Tradition relates that he was granted the gift of healing, and that he had a special love for children.
Mothers brought their sick children to him and childless couples sought his prayers. He reposed in peace and is venerated throughout Greece as the protector of infants and children.
