Venerable Zosimas of Palestine, the elder who met Saint Mary of Egypt in the desert beyond the Jordan.
Zosimas entered the monastic life as a child and lived for many decades in a monastery of Palestine before moving to a community near the Jordan. Going into the desert during Great Lent, as was the custom there, he met the ascetic Mary of Egypt and heard from her the story of her repentance.
The following year he brought her Holy Communion, and a year later found her body and buried it. He lived to a great age and reposed in peace in the sixth century.

On the New Calendar, Zosimas of Palestine is commemorated on April 4. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on April 17 of the civil calendar.
