  Nine Martyrs of Cyzicus

  Martyr, Εννέα Μάρτυρες Κυζίκου

  The holy Nine Martyrs suffered at Cyzicus, a city on the southern shore of the Sea of Marmara, during the persecutions of the third century. Christians of different ages and walks of life, they confessed Christ openly before the authorities, and when neither threats nor torments could move them, all nine were beheaded together.

• Kerkyra the Martyr

  Holy Woman, Κέρκυρα η Μάρτυς

  Kerkyra was the daughter of the ruler of the island of Corfu at the time the Apostles Jason and Sosipater preached there. Seeing the endurance of the martyrs, she believed in Christ and gave her jewels to the poor.

• John Kaloktenis of Thebes

  Hierarch, Ιωάννης ο Καλοκτένης

  John Kaloktenis was Metropolitan of Thebes in Boeotia in the twelfth century, remembered for his charity to the poor and for public works in his city, including water channels and hospitals.

• Eusebius, Zeno, Vitalius and Neon

  Martyr, Ευσέβιος, Ζήνων, Βιτάλιος και Νέων

  Eusebius, Zeno, Vitalius and Neon were among those converted on the island of Corfu by the preaching of the Apostles Jason and Sosipater. When they confessed Christ before the ruler they were condemned.

• Seven Martyrs of Corfu

  Saint, Επτά Μάρτυρες Κερκύρας

  Saturninus, Iakischolus, Faustianus, Januarius, Marsalius, Euphrasius and Mammius were seven robbers imprisoned on Corfu together with the Apostles Jason and Sosipater. Through the apostles' teaching they came to faith in Christ.

• Christodoulos the Ethiopian

  Martyr, Χριστόδουλος ο Αιθίοψ

  Christodoulos was an Ethiopian in the service of the ruler of Corfu who, seeing the wonders that accompanied the preaching of the Apostles Jason and Sosipater, believed in Christ and confessed openly.

• Basil of Ostrog

  Hierarch, Βασίλειος ο Θαυματουργός εκ Σερβίας

  Basil was born in Herzegovina in the seventeenth century and became a monk and later Bishop of Zahumlje. Persecuted by the Turks and by Latin missionaries, he withdrew to the rock monastery of Ostrog in Montenegro, where he lived in great asceticism.
