Holy Hieromartyr Athanasios of Sparta in Attaleia, beheaded at Mudania in 1653.

Athanasios was a priest from Sparta in the region of Attaleia in Asia Minor who was falsely accused by the Turks and pressed to accept Islam.

He refused to deny Christ and was beheaded at Mudania in 1653, and is honored among the New Hieromartyrs.
