Doukas of Mytilene

Holy New Martyr Doukas the Tailor of Mytilene, flayed for Christ in Constantinople.

Doukas was a tailor from Mytilene working in Constantinople. Tradition relates that a Turkish woman who desired him accused him falsely when he refused her, and he was ordered to embrace Islam.

He firmly confessed Christ and was flayed alive in 1564.

On the New Calendar, Doukas of Mytilene is commemorated on April 24. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on May 7 of the civil calendar.
