Nicholas of Magnesia

Holy New Martyr Nicholas of Magnesia in Asia Minor.

Nicholas was a young Christian of Magnesia near Smyrna in the service of a Turkish landowner, who pressed him to accept Islam. He refused and confessed Christ.

He was beaten to death in 1796 and is honoured among the new martyrs of Asia Minor.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Nicholas of Magnesia is commemorated on April 24. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on May 7 of the civil calendar.
