Venerable Nikodemos of Vatopedi, spiritual father of St. Gregory Palamas.

St. Nikodemos was an ascetic of Vatopedi Monastery on Mount Athos in the fourteenth century. He is remembered as the elder who received the young Gregory Palamas and guided him in the life of prayer.

He reposed in peace and is honored among the saints of the Holy Mountain.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Nikodemos of Vatopedi is commemorated on July 11. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 24 of the civil calendar.
