Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Olga, Princess of Kiev, grandmother of St. Vladimir.
St. Olga was the wife of Prince Igor of Kiev and ruled Rus' after his death in the tenth century. She traveled to Constantinople, where she was baptized with the name Helen, and returned to Kiev as the first Christian ruler of her people.
Though her son remained a pagan, her grandson Vladimir would later baptize all of Rus'. She reposed in peace and is honored as Equal-to-the-Apostles.

On the New Calendar, Olga of Kiev is commemorated on July 11. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on July 24 of the civil calendar.
