Silvanus of the Kiev Caves

Venerable Silvanus the schemamonk of the Kiev Far Caves.

Saint Silvanus was a schemamonk of the Far Caves of the Kiev Lavra in the thirteenth or fourteenth century. Tradition relates that thieves who came to rob the monastery garden were held fast by his prayer until they repented. His relics rest in the Far Caves.

Feast day

On the New Calendar, Silvanus of the Kiev Caves is commemorated on June 10. Churches on the Old (Julian) Calendar keep the feast on June 23 of the civil calendar.
