  Isidore of Chios

  Martyr, Ισίδωρος

  The Holy Martyr Isidore suffered on the island of Chios in the middle of the third century, during the persecution of Decius. A soldier serving in the imperial fleet, he was denounced as a Christian, and when he refused to sacrifice to the idols he was tortured and beheaded, remaining steadfast in his confession to the end.

• Therapon of Cyprus

  Therapon was a bishop in Cyprus who suffered martyrdom for Christ; the details of his life are not preserved. His relics remained on the island until the ninth century, when, tradition relates, the saint appeared and directed that they be moved to Constantinople before an Arab raid.

• Leontios of Jerusalem

  Hierarch, Λεόντιος Ιεροσολύμων

  Leontios was born in Stroumitsa in Macedonia and became a monk of the Monastery of Saint John on Patmos, later serving as its abbot. In the twelfth century he was chosen Patriarch of Jerusalem and journeyed to the Holy Land, where the Crusaders prevented him from taking possession of his see.

  John was a young goldsmith from Bulgaria who worked in Constantinople. Falsely accused and pressured to accept Islam, he confessed Christ openly before the court.
