  Andronikos the Apostle

  Apostle, Ανδρόνικος

  The Holy Apostle Andronikos was one of the Seventy, greeted by St. Paul in the Epistle to the Romans as his kinsman and fellow prisoner, notable among the apostles and in Christ before him. With his fellow laborer Junia he preached the Gospel and turned many from idols to the living God.

• Junia the Apostle

  Apostle, Ιουνία

  Junia is greeted by Saint Paul in the Epistle to the Romans, together with Andronikos, as his kinsfolk and fellow prisoners who were outstanding among the apostles and in Christ before him. Tradition relates that she labored with Andronikos in preaching the Gospel and in bringing many to baptism.

• Athanasios of Christianoupolis

  Hierarch, Αθανάσιος Χριστιανουπόλεως

  Athanasios was born in Karytaina in Arcadia in the seventeenth century and became Bishop of Christianoupolis (Triphylia) in the Peloponnese. He shepherded his flock with love under Ottoman rule and was known for wonders in his lifetime.

• Solochon, Pamphamer and Pamphylon

  Martyr, Σολόχων, Παμφαμήρ και Παμφυλών

  Solochon, Pamphamer and Pamphylon were Egyptian soldiers serving at Chalcedon under the Emperor Maximian. Refusing to sacrifice to idols, they were beaten and tortured; tradition relates that Solochon endured especially cruel torments and, carried to the house of a Christian, gave up his soul after instructing those present in the faith.

• Nektarios and Theophanes of Meteora

  Venerable, Νεκτάριος και Θεοφάνης οι Αψαράδες

  Nektarios and Theophanes were brothers from Ioannina who became monks and, in the sixteenth century, climbed the rock of the earlier hermit Varlaam at Meteora. There they built the Monastery of All Saints, known as Varlaam, and gathered a brotherhood.

• Nicholas of Metsovo

  Martyr, Νικόλαος εκ Μετσόβου

  Nicholas was a young man from Metsovo in Epirus who, while working in Trikala, was pressured into accepting Islam. Returning home in remorse, he repented and, resolving to confess Christ, went back to Trikala.

• Theodoretos of Antioch

  Martyr, Θεοδώρητος ο Πρεσβύτερος

  Theodoretos was a priest of Antioch who remained at his post when Julian the Apostate confiscated the treasures of the churches. Arrested and tortured for refusing to surrender the sacred vessels and to sacrifice to idols, he was beheaded in 362.
