• Erastos the Apostle

  Apostle, Έραστος

  The holy apostle Erastos, one of the Seventy, is named by the Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Romans as the treasurer of the city of Corinth. A companion of Paul in the work of the Gospel, he served the growing Church with the same faithfulness he had shown in civic office.

• Olympas, Herodion, Sosipater and Quartus the Apostles

  Apostle, Ολυμπάς, Ηρωδίων, Σωσίπατρος και Κουάρτος

  The Apostles Olympas, Herodion, Sosipater, Quartus and Tertius are among the Seventy and are greeted by Saint Paul in his Epistle to the Romans. Tradition relates that Herodion became bishop of Neopatras, Sosipater of Iconium, Quartus of Beirut and Tertius of Iconium after Sosipater.

• Arsenios of Cappadocia

  Venerable, Αρσένιος ο Καππαδόκης

  Saint Arsenios was born in Farasa of Cappadocia in the nineteenth century and served as priest and teacher of his village for some fifty years, known for his ascetic life and the many healings worked through his prayers. He baptized the infant who would become Saint Paisios the Athonite.

• Orestes the Physician

  Martyr, Ορέστης

  Saint Orestes was a physician of Tyana in Cappadocia during the persecution of Diocletian. Arrested for his faith, he refused to sacrifice to the idols and was subjected to severe tortures.

• Nonnus of Heliopolis

  Hierarch, Νόννος

  Saint Nonnus was a monk of Tabenna who was made bishop of Heliopolis, and later of Edessa, in the fifth century. He is remembered chiefly for his preaching at Antioch, which brought the famous actress Pelagia to repentance.

• Theosterictus of Symbola

  Venerable, Θεοστήρικτος ο εν Συμβόλοις

  Venerable Theosterictus was abbot of the monastery of Symbola on the Bithynian Olympus in the ninth century. Tradition relates that he suffered for the veneration of the holy icons during the iconoclast persecution.

• Milos the Wonderworker

  Hierarch, Μίλος ο Θαυματουργός

  Saint Milos was a bishop in Persia in the fourth century, known as a wonderworker. When his flock rejected his preaching he travelled to Jerusalem and Egypt, and on his return continued to labour for the Gospel.
