  Aquilina

  Holy Woman, Ακυλίνα

  The Holy Martyr Aquilina was a young girl of Byblos in Phoenicia who suffered under the persecution of Diocletian at the end of the third century. Raised in the faith from infancy, she spoke of Christ to her companions with such boldness that she was denounced to the authorities, and though only a child she endured torments and death rather than deny the Lord.

• Triphyllius of Leucosia

  Hierarch, Τριφύλλιος

  Saint Triphyllius was born in Constantinople and educated in law at Beirut before becoming a disciple of Saint Spyridon of Trimythous, whose humility he learned to imitate. He was made bishop of Leucosia and was renowned for his eloquence and learning.

• Antipater of Bostra

  Hierarch, Αντίπατρος Επίσκοπος Βόστρων

  Saint Antipater was bishop of Bostra in Arabia in the fifth century, a contemporary of the emperor Leo. He was noted for his learning and wrote works against the errors of Origen, which were cited with approval at the later councils. He reposed in peace.

• Anna and her son John of Constantinople

  Holy Woman, Άννα και Ιωάννης

  Saint Anna was a widow of Constantinople who, after her husband's death, took her young son John and withdrew to a monastery, where she lived disguised as the monk Euphemianos. Tradition relates that her holiness was revealed only at her repose, and that her son also lived the monastic life in holiness.

• Alexandra of Diveyevo

  Holy Woman, Αλεξάνδρα του Ντιβέεβο

  Saint Alexandra, in the world Agatha Melgunova, was a wealthy widow who, guided by a vision of the Theotokos, founded a community of nuns at Diveyevo near Sarov in the eighteenth century. She was known to Saint Seraphim of Sarov, who later cared for the convent, and she reposed in 1789.

• Philotheos of Sklataina

  Venerable, Φιλόθεος ο εκ Σκλαταίνης

  Saint Philotheos came from the village of Sklataina near Trikala in Thessaly. In the sixteenth century he founded a monastery in the region, where he led his brethren in the ascetic life and reposed in peace. His memory is kept locally with great devotion.
